Founded on innovation and collaboration, the merger of Output AV and TechX in 2023 amplified our expertise and resources. From humble beginnings in school productions to powering large-scale festivals and corporate spectacles, we’ve grown into a trusted leader across Cape Town and South Africa.

The merger of 2 established technical service providers, Output AV and TechX in 2023 resulted in the formation of Aurras Group.

The combination of this expertise and warehouses has amplified what we offer our clients in terms of service and equipment.  And this has become a key driving strategy in our business.

TechX, founded by Justin Heyman opened its doors in 2005 as a small sound and lighting rental company, servicing a wide selection of schools, universities, and dramatic societies within the Western Cape. In 2010 TechX rebranded itself as one of the main players within the professional Technical Events industry and expanded what it had to offer to its clients.

By 2013 TechX had become the preferred supplier for multiple Sporting, Corporate, Live and Music Festival events, servicing many of the well-known club and festival promotors. The company prides itself on its knowledge and service delivery within the Technical Events space and has expanded services to include multiple facets within the industry, to become one of the number one “one-stop-shops” for events in South Africa.

Output AV began in 2016 in the garage of founders Gareth and Brett Aitken as a small DJ equipment rental business. Driven by Brett’s passion for DJing and events, the company quickly built strong connections within the events industry, specializing in DJ gear rentals.

Over time, Output AV expanded beyond its original niche, gradually evolving into a full-service rental company by 2019. The COVID-19 pandemic brought significant challenges for the events sector, but Output AV navigated through this difficult period and remained resilient.

When events returned with renewed energy, Output AV was well-positioned to thrive, leading to an exciting new chapter: a merger with Tech X.
